  • In 2016, Idaho’s in-state net electricity generation equaled 70% of the state’s total electric industry retail sales, with the remainder of electricity coming from other states and international imports.
  • Hydroelectric power supplied almost 60% of net electricity generation in Idaho (as of 2016), which is the 2nd-largest share in the country. Because of recent droughts, Idaho’s hydropower’s capacity fell from the 72% average of the previous decade.
  • In 2016, Idaho’s wind turbines provided 15% of utility-scale net electricity generation.
