Frequently Asked Questions

Community solar programs make it easy to access clean energy and solar savings — without the costly, logistical barriers associated with private solar panels.

In Ohio, our program is a new initiative in collaboration with Google and EDPR Renewables that introduces a new way to support clean energy. They're building 500 megawatts of solar power across approximately 80 solar projects, and have partnered with Arcadia to allocate a portion of the proceeds from those projects to help over 25,000 households with a high energy cost burden.

Signing up for an Arcadia account allows us to check your eligibility and enroll you in our community solar program. You’ll get updates on how your solar farm is performing, as well as monthly savings notifications.

A solar farm (or solar project) is a large collection of solar panels that absorb energy from the sun, convert it into electricity, and send that electricity to the power grid for distribution and consumption by customers like you.

It’s entirely free to sign up, and if you qualify as a low- or moderate-income household we will be able to connect you to a solar farm that generates monthly savings on your utility bill. This innovative partnership promises to make clean energy more accessible and affordable, marking a significant step towards an equitable energy future for all.

It’s easy to sign up. You’ll provide us with some information so we can create your account, such as: name, email, phone number, and electricity provider.

Then you’ll connect your utility account so we can analyze how much you’ll save every month.

Finally you’ll upload documentation so that we can verify that your household income meets the low- to moderate-income criteria.

Signing up only takes a few minutes!

Once the program starts accepting enrollments, there are a variety of ways you can potentially qualify, such as:

  • Providing proof of residence in affordable housing
  • Providing proof of participation in a variety of government programs (such as Medicaid, LIHEAP, SNAP, TANF, or others)
  • Signing an attestation form regarding your household income
  • Providing your address for us to compare it with qualifying Census tracts

If you don’t qualify as a low and moderate income household, you can check if our community solar program is available in your state. The features are similar to our affordable energy program, but you may have to wait to be placed on a solar farm.
