Community solar projects managed by Arcadia typically offer participants up to 5%-15% discount off your electricity cost, depending on your location. The discount rate may differ by utility company. Those meeting low-to-moderate income qualifications and/or currently on government assistance programs may be eligible for even higher savings, including up to 20%-25%. Community solar is meant to provide savings over time and guaranteed on an annual basis as long as you remain enrolled through Arcadia—though your exact monthly breakdown of savings will vary based on your own electricity usage and the seasonality of solar power generation.

Nope! Neither your utility nor electricity supplier will change with community solar. Arcadia works directly with your current utility company.

This depends on your state because community solar programs differ by state.

In some states, you'll continue paying your bill through your utility company directly as you always have—and it will have solar credits applied, reducing the total! It's as easy as that.

In other states, you'll provide Arcadia a payment method during signup, and we'll take over paying your monthly electric bill for you to the utility company. It will have your solar credits applied each month, reducing the total. You'll then pay a separate bill to Arcadia for a percentage of the credit value. For example, if you receive $100 off your electric bill thanks to community solar, you may then pay Arcadia $90. This is a 10% discount, or $10 net savings.

When you go through enrollment, we'll explain exactly how community solar works and how you get savings—based on your state!

Joining your state’s community solar program through Arcadia is free! Think of it as a reward for supporting renewable energy. States receive funding from the government and are incentivized to increase their clean energy generation to meet America’s aggressive carbon-zero goals. Community solar developers and solar farm owners get a piece of those incentives in the form of tax breaks, while participants like you, receive a discount off your bill. This entices more people to participate in community solar and ensures everyone is benefiting from clean energy. It’s a win for you, a win for states, and a win for the planet.

We analyze your historical electricity usage to understand how many credits you’ll need each month from your solar farm. States typically allow for higher electricity users to get a larger “share” of the farm’s energy output, bringing them additional savings, since their bills are higher from the start. But low electricity users can still save! Arcadia needs to see your historical usage before we can connect you to a solar farm.

Not directly. Instead of your home or business being powered by the solar farm, your participation helps support the farm’s operations so it can produce clean energy for the overall electric grid. From there, the utility distributes it as needed throughout their service territory.

• Complete all enrollment steps on Arcadia's website
• Be eligible for community solar and approved to be placed on a solar project
• Receive a countersigned community solar agreement from Arcadia

Once these criteria are met, you'll receive an email with your virtual Amazon.com Gift Card card within 30 days, as long as you are still an actively subscribed community solar participant with Arcadia at that time.
